We live in a small country town, Pauatahanui, which is on the hills between Lower Hutt City and Plimmerton Beach.
Our family moved from the city and built our new home on the land. We love the peaceful lifestyle the country brings us after a day at our busy jobs.
John is a Builder and has his own building and decorating company.
I am a Teacher and Child Councillor / Advocate for abused children.
We moved to a farm life as my daughter and I have a love and determined commitment to saving the NZ wild Kaimanawa horses from slaughter - being life members or the NZ Heritage Horses Society.
Our dream (and ongoing plan) is to open a sanctuary for public to view the beautiful Kaimanawa horses we have and are saving, here on our land.
Moving also enabled us to have the animals we always dreamed off.
We moved to the land with our beautiful elderly pointer called Walter - but dearly wanted to get him a dog mate so we started searching the internet.
It was only then we came across the beautiful - "White Shepherd" - "Swiss Shepherd" or can also be called - "White German Shepherd".
(Please feel free to email or phone me direct if you are unsure as to all the names this lovely breed can be called and I can explain.)
I have owned German Shepherds before but loved the gentle nature that the White Shepherd seemed to have.
We decided to get two New Zealand bred girls from the same litter so they would grow up together. Heidi and Delilah are both beautiful NZ bred girls with NZ, Austrian and European lines.
Our boy - we travelled to Australia to look at kennels that we were keen on. Our aim to bring a new line into NZ.
Falling in love with "Coolabah" Kennels dogs, near Brisbane, we decided to buy our boy from Katrina.
We are extremely grateful to Katrina and her family for picking us out such a wonderful boy "Coolabah Pegusus Storm" , pet name being "Claude".
Claude has Australian and South African blood lines.
Our dogs have grown up together with dear old Walter as the Father figure of dogs teaching them excellent dog manners.
They gave Walter, we believe, 3 more great years of life with his little team of Shepherd mates.
In his last days all 3 would always stay with him and Walter never missing one walk no matter how slow he was.
Walter passed away peacefully, with his Shepherd mates lying next to him, at almost 17 years of age.
All our dogs do obedience training in their young years. As they were all around the same age we had the fun of doing as a family each week.
The dogs join us in all the activities on the farm from brushing horses to hand rearing 4 day old calves. If we are home they are with us.
They are all socialised with sheep, cattle, goats, poultry, cats and horses.
We can walk all our dogs so close to the peacocks and chooks without the birds even bothering to look up at them, just continuing to eat while the dogs walk right through their group.
On days that it's possible, John and I will take one of the dogs with us to work so each has a turn out and about.
On New Zealand White Ribbon Day (raising awareness for domestic violence), Claude would come with me complete with his huge white ribbon around his neck - always a treat for the children and Mum's that I work with.
Our dogs are a part of our family and we would never be without them.
They are the most loving, friendly, loyal, intelligent, fun breed of dog that we know and we are so proud to breed them.
We have made sure that all the health checks that can be done before breeding are carried out on all our dogs. All have tested clear of everything. We strive to make sure our dogs and pups are fed the highest quality food. In 2013 we purchased milking goats for fresh milk for pups and adults. We are dedicated to giving our animals the best of everything possible.
It's is wonderful to be able to hand over a beautifully raised puppy, that has been so well loved and looked after, to its new family.
And even more wonderful to hear is all the lovely stories of people that, too, would now never be without this wonderful breed of dog.
Many lovely friends have been made through our love for this beautiful breed.
This year we are starting up get togethers with our many new friends made. We will have the pleasure of having "Sam" an experienced Canine Behaviour Specialist and owner of "Balanced-K9", joining us with his young girl , "Majestic Star" , pet name being "Nashi".
Please feel free to text or call us if you would like more information about our dogs. We are always more than happy to answer your questions or for you to come and visit.
